Weapons are your best friend in Fortnite, as they’re your primary source of damage in attempting to become the last player standing. While there’s a wide variety of weapons in the game, arguably not all of them feel optimal in terms of damage or gameplay. It helps to know which ones are the best guns, so you can focus on finding and equipping them.
Additionally, even if you don’t manage to get your preferred weapon, there are still other options that serve as a great alternative especially when paired with the right attachments. To help you out with your choice of weapon, we’ve compiled the latest Fortnite weapon tier list for the best guns in Chapter 5 Season 1.

The Fortnite weapon tier list for Chapter 5 Season 1 is divided into four tiers. The S tier being the highest, most overpowered or meta weapon at the moment, whereas the C tier is something you’ll likely want to avoid unless there are no other options.
It’s important to note that despite some weapons ranking higher than others, it doesn’t mean that they are the only viable ones in the game. Ultimately, whether or not some weapons are the best to use in-game, comes down to your preference.

Outside of that, thanks to the new weapon attachments feature in Fortnite, it’s also possible to further customize your weapon to fit your playstyle. Without further ado, let’s jump into the complete Fortnite weapon tier list below.
S Tier Weapons in Fortnite
The Striker AR deals a ton of damage and has a high fire rate, making it a versatile pick. It feels great to use at close to mid-range combat because it allows you to shred through enemies and walls quickly. The only downside is that the bullet spread can be quite annoying, but using the Muzzle Brake attachment to reduce recoil would solve this problem.
For close-range battles especially in Zero Build, the Hammer Pump Shotgun does a great job in cracking your opponent’s shield. It does a lot of damage, especially if you’re constantly hitting those headshots. However, since it has a long reload time, it’s better to fire this weapon once, and then quickly switch to another weapon like the Striker AR or any other SMG.
Last in this S tier list, the Reaper Sniper Rifle allows you to deal with enemies from a safe distance. Even if you’re not hitting headshots, the high damage output from this weapon will significantly chip their shield and health. Although it’s tempting to use the 2x and 4x scope, these attachments will reveal your location due to the sniper glare. The holo is a much better stealthy option.

A Tier Weapons in Fortnite
The Hyper SMG and Thunder Burst SMG both have a high fire rate and fast reload, with a decent DPS to deal with close-range enemies. The reason they’re not S-tier is that they’re easily replaced with Striker AR which has better DPS and similar fire rate. Still, they’re both great alternatives especially if you use them as a follow-up from the Hammer Pump Shotgun.

B Tier Weapons in Fortnite
The Frenzy Auto Shotgun may not have as much damage as the S-tier Hammer Pump Shotgun in this list, but its fire rate makes up for it. It’s fast, spammy, and works well in close-range fights. Just make sure you pay attention to the magazine, as it has a slow reload time.
The Nemesis AR is a slightly downgraded version of the Striker AR. It doesn’t deal as much damage, but it’s quite decent in medium range thanks to the weapon’s accuracy. All in all, its low recoil makes up for the weapon’s lack of DPS.
Compared to others, the Ballistic Shield feels more like a utility compared to a weapon. It serves as a shield with a pistol as a bonus. The damage isn’t that bad, but don’t expect to shred your enemies’ health, unless they’re extremely low health.

Like most pistols, the Ranger Pistol is the kind of weapon that is considered the jack of all trades, master of none. It can be used in a lot of situations, but it’s easily outclassed by other weapons if you’re looking for an efficient way to deal with enemies. That said, it has a faster reload time than an SMG, despite lacking in damage and fire rate.

C Tier Weapons in Fortnite
Regardless of how much mobility the Grapple Blade offers, it’s not meant to be your primary weapon. It barely deals any damage, and there’s a significant delay between every attack animation. It’s best to use this to close the gap between you and your enemy before finishing them off using a different weapon.
Finally, the Cluster Clinger explosive makes it easier to destroy nearby buildings and enemy structures. However, since it’s a projectile, it’s hard to aim and at the same time, it’s easier for your enemies to dodge your shots. Save this for when you want to clear an area.
That’s it for our Fortnite weapon tier list: best guns in Chapter 5 Season 1. For now, the best weapons are the Striker AR, Hammer Pump Shotgun, and Reaper Sniper Rifle. We’ll make sure to update this tier list when vaulted or new weapons arrive in the game.
