I’m probably not alone in saying that mascara is an essential in my make-up bag – a must-have, desert island, can’t-leave-the-house-without beauty product that I apply every time I wear make-up.
I’ve tried countless mascaras other the years, and surprisingly few really impress me. I want volume AND length AND lift AND definition, and I don’t want it to flake or smudge one bit throughout the day.
Clearly me and my lashes are hard to please, but I’ve never been disappointed by a Benefit mascara – it’s no wonder they’re the UK’s bestselling prestige mascaras. And Benefit’s newest one, Fan Fest Mascara (which launched earlier this year) is no exception – and it’s currently on sale.

A mini 4g tube of Fan Fest usually costs £13.50 but shoppers can buy it with 50% off at Amazon at the moment – taking the price down to just £6.80.
And if you want to snap up a full size tube, the cheapest we can currently find it is with 20% off at Debenhams, taking the price down from £25.50 to £20.40.
As its name suggests, Fan Fest is designed to fan the lashes out side-to-side, giving a pretty, wide-eyed effect. It has ‘full fibre’ brush with a 40 degree curve for reaching every single tiny lash, plus a flexible formula that separates lashes.
I love it for a number of reasons. Firstly the curved brush enables you to either scoop or push the lashes up depending on which way you hold it. It gives the lashes plenty of oomph and definition – not va-va-voom, false lash effect volume, but a nice amount for everyday wear.
My eyelashes are long but point in awkward directions (some are super curly, some lean in towards my nose) and this mascara does a good job at controlling them, splaying them out in roughly the directly I want them to be in.

Crucially, Benefit Fan Fest also stays put all day long – no smudging, smearing or crumbling off.
This is why it has been my favourite mascara discovery of 2023, and I’ll definitely be stocking up while it’s in this 50% off pre-Christmas Amazon sale.
