Coronation Street’s Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) was shocked after she discovered bombshell news about her father.
Sarah, daughter of Gail Platt (Helen Worth), always assumed that her mum’s late ex-husband Brian Tilsley (Christopher Quinten), who was on the soap from 1978-1989 and stabbed to death when she was very young, was her dad.
But when brother David (Jack P. Shepherd) found a journal that belonged to Gail’s criminal brother Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), who passed away earlier this year, they realised Brian might not be her father.
It’s because the diary detailed the fact that Gail was initially unsure who Sarah’s dad was as she had an affair with Ian Latimer, Brian’s cousin, around the same time that she fell pregnant with her.
Sarah later discovered that when she was born, Brian took a DNA test which confirmed that he was her father.
Although he and Gail divorced because of her fling with Ian, they reunited soon after their daughter’s birth. But sadly, their love wasn’t to last as Brian died in an altercation outside a nightclub a year later.
Amid the bombshell, we took a closer look at actor Christopher Quinten’s life off-screen from his famous ex to lap dancer fiancee….

Career
Christopher made his Coronation Street debut in 1978 and was on the show until 1989. He left the show as he told executives he was moving to America to marry his then-fiancée, Leeza Gibbons, a famous American talk show host.
Although he asked if he could stay on the show part-time, the producers rejected his offer and chose to kill his character off.
His final episode aired on 15 February 1989, when his character was stabbed to death by a group of teenagers.

The 66 year old went over to America after his time on the Cobbles where he was in television programmes and films such as RoboCop2, which he worked on with with Leeza.
Swapping the bright lights of Hollywood for the UK after a few years, Brian then became a manager at a strip club called Secret Lounge.
Christopher has also been a manager at Stringfellows in Covent Garden and Secrets in Hammersmith.

Love life
Christopher’s marriage to Leeza wasn’t to last and they split in 1991 after having their daughter Lexi together. He went on to marry Paula Holmes in 1992 but they also separated.
Back in England, after 10 years of being single, the actor embarked on a romance with Robyn Delabarre, 26, a dancer he met at the Secret Lounge strip club that he managed.
Because of Robyn’s job as a lap dancer at the club, they kept their romance under wraps for months.

Christopher later told the Sunday Mirror: “We don’t care what anyone thinks. All we know is we’re in love.”
“I was working here only a week and everyone kept asking me, ‘Have you met Lexi yet? When I saw her it was a lightning bolt. A feeling I hadn’t had before. You get it only once, twice if you’re lucky.”
Christopher and Robyn found forever love and announced their engagement when she was 21 and he was 61. They invited people to their engagement party at the Secret Lounge.
The flyer read: “Come and join us! We got engaged! All are welcome to join us for a celebratory engagement party at The Secret Lounge.”

In 2020, Christopher returned to the world of soaps, playing Kyle Kelly’s (Adam Rickitt) long-lost father on Hollyoaks while Diana Weston played Kyle’s mum.
Adam had previously worked with Christopher on the Cobbles, playing his son Nick before he left in 1999. Chris said at the time: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the scenes I’ve filmed so far at Hollyoaks; I already love the show and all the cast, crew, and production staff are fantastic and so friendly.
“Working with Adam after first playing ‘his’ dad more than thirty years ago is a dream come true; it’s a brilliant piece of soap nostalgia, which I hope everyone enjoys.
“I think Mark and Carole will really give viewers an insight into why Kyle became the man he is today, which has been a lot of fun to play, and I’m looking forward to doing more.”
