Apple was banned from selling Apple Watches in the US featuring SpO2 (blood oxygen level) sensors following a patent dispute with medical technology company Masimo. Apple appealed against this order in the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to halt the ban temporarily until the US Customs could determine if the changes it’s making to the Apple Watch would be enough to avoid the dispute, and, much to Apple’s respite, the request has been granted.
Following the ban, Apple pulled the Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 from its online and offline stores while third-party retailers were allowed to continue the sales till the stocks ran out. But now that the ban has been temporarily paused, Apple can resume the sales of its latest watches through its stores till the next hearing scheduled for January 12, 2024.

The stay on the ban could be extended by the appeals court, allowing Apple to continue selling the latest watches longer, or the US Customs could rule against Apple, preventing the Cupertino-based tech giant from selling its smartwatches with SpO2 sensor. We’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to see how this unfolds for Apple.
