Starz
Starz’s half-hour comedy series “Minx,” about the early days of an adult magazine for women, has been cancelled – for a second time.
The Jake Johnson and Ophelia Lovibond-led series debuted on Max in March 2022, back when it was HBO Max, and was renewed for a second season just after its finale.
Then in December, as part of David Zaslav’s cost-cutting measures at Warner Bros. Discovery, the show was ‘unrenewed’ despite having already been in production and nearly wrapped.
A month later and a year ago, Starz announced it had picked up the series and got to work on finishing it – premiering the second season this Summer with the finale airing September 8th.
The hope was for a third season as executive producer Paul Feig confirmed that some name drops in the second season could show up in a potential third.
As the second season launched during the strikes, the actors were unable to promote it and so the cancellation came as little surprise. The cancellation of this and “Shining Vale” last month leaves Starz without any new original comedies.
