Cygames Cup Special
The Cygames Tournament announced for Japan is one of a handful of opening events for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. These are regional tournaments. All officially sponsored by the publisher. This opening event is part of the Arc World Tour, although since it’s a pretty recently released game, it isn’t the biggest part of this year’s circuit. The top two placing players win their slot at the upcoming invitational.
The Cygames Cup Special is taking place over two days, running January 19-20th. It’s an official series organized by Cygames as part of the Cygames Cup. This opening event is more of a special event though. It’s in Japan and largely for this region, with separate tournaments taking place elsewhere for other regions.
The format for this tournament is a double elimination bracket with pools preceding it. It’ll be interesting to see how the game’s early meta plays out here Especially with other tournaments instituting rules like banning frying pans in Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising.
