Aewon Wolf is the latest SA rapper to change his stage name after years of gaining prominence with the current one. Speaking during an interview on East Coast Radio with Carol Ofori, the Durban rapper said he will be going by a new stage name ‘Aewon Rakhma.’ “It’s an exclusive, so the name is Aewon Rakhma. Rakhma is the Aramaic word for unconditional love,” Aewon said.
Explaining the rationale behind his name change, the renowned rapper expressed that he harboured a longstanding aspiration to incorporate a symbol of love into his stage persona. However, he hesitated to make that significant change for an extended period.
“I’ve always wanted to adopt the name love or the word love into my name. I’ve always been scared to actually do it. I think this year when I said I’m coming back to music and had a lot of stuff to share. I’ve gone on a whole journey and learned a lot in that time,” he added.
