iPad Mini

The latest iPad Mini (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is our go-to tablet for travel. It’s small enough to slip into my backpack and fits perfectly on an airplane tray table. With an 8.3-inch display, it’s great for watching movies or reading ebooks, as well as sketching and taking notes with the second-generation Apple Pencil. Equipped with an A15 Bionic processor (the same chip powering the 2021 iPhone 13), it can handle taxing apps and games with ease. It should have enough power to last you for many years. This is also the lowest price we’ve tracked.
This is the newest version of Apple’s basic iPad (7/10, WIRED Review). It’s more expensive than previous models, but that’s because the company fully revamped it with slim bezels (a wider screen), its 2020 A14 Bionic chip from the iPhone 12, a USB-C port, and a Touch ID sensor integrated into the power button on the top. The rear camera was also upgraded from 8 megapixels to 12 megapixels and the 12-megapixel selfie camera was moved to the center of the iPad (in landscape mode) so you’re no longer staring awkwardly to the side during video calls. It usually hovers between $399 and $439, so this is a bit lower than its normal price range.
We consider the ninth-generation iPad (8/10, WIRED Recommends) the best iPad for most people, considering its price. It’s affordable (even without this discount), and packs a bunch of great features including a 12-megapixel rear camera with support for Center Stage (which keeps you in the frame during video calls), 64 GB of storage on the base model, a True Tone display that adjusts the color temperature to match the ambient lighting in your environment, and a physical Touch ID-enabled home button. And since it’s the same shape and size as its predecessors, all current accessories will work—like the first-generation Apple Pencil and Apple’s Smart Keyboard.

Apple Watch Series 8
Photograph: Apple
We’re only a few months away from Apple’s annual hardware event in September, where the company is likely going to announce the Apple Watch Series 9. But if you don’t need the latest version, the Series 8 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is a great choice and currently our favorite Apple Watch. It packs an ECG reader, a blood oxygen level sensor, and a heart rate monitor. You can also use the wrist-based temperature-sensing feature to track your skin temperature and (potentially) your periods and fertility. The larger 45-mm version is also on sale for $310 ($49 off). The cellular models are discounted in both the 41-mm and 45-mm sizes, too.
If you don’t need all those aforementioned capabilities of the Series 8, then the second-generation Apple Watch SE is a great option for most people. It can still track important health and fitness features, and with the latest S8 chip, you’ll also get the redesigned Compass app and Crash Detection. It has support for WatchOS 9 too, so you don’t have to worry about missing out on the latest software updates. The larger 44-mm version is also on sale for $230 ($19 off). The smaller version is on sale at Target for $220 ($30 off). Be sure to clip the coupon button.
Beats Fit Pro
Photograph: Beats
The Beats Fit Pro (9/10, WIRED Recommends) hold the title of Best Earbuds in our guide to the Best Wireless Earbuds for their comfortable fit, great sound, and seamless integration with both iOS and Android. They also feature active noise canceling and decent mics. Equipped with Apple’s proprietary H1 headphone chip, they work like AirPods when used with an iPhone. These work great on Android too—complete with an app that allows you to perform a fit test and customize the controls.
We don’t have a formal review of them, but WIRED associate editor Parker Hall says the Studio Buds fit better than most buds he’s ever tried. He also likes that they have extremely useful physical buttons on the outside to play and pause audio as well as control noise cancelation. They’ll also stay put in your ears even when breaking a sweat and sound easily as good as Apple’s AirPods Pro.
Belkin 3-in-1 Wireless Charger with Magsafe
Photograph: Belkin
This is currently our favorite Apple 3-in-1 wireless charger. The T-shaped design is compact, so it won’t take up that much space on your nightstand or desk, and the charging tree suspends two of your devices midair. You can use it to charge your iPhone (at the fastest 15-watt charging speed Apple allows), fast charge the Apple Watch Series 7/8/Ultra, and use the base to charge your AirPods Pro (or AirPods with a wireless charging case) simultaneously all from a single outlet. It’s normally around $150, but was at this discounted price in May and June, so it’s possible that Prime Day won’t be your last opportunity to snag it for less.
Click the coupon button to apply the discount at checkout. Simply stick your iPhone to this adorable little orb and it’ll start charging. On the back, you’ll also find two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and three AC outlets. It’s both cute and tidy. The coupon was available a few days before Prime Day, so it could last beyond the event, but it’s a great price nonetheless.
Satechi’s wireless charging stand doesn’t offer the fastest charging speeds, but it’ll definitely power up your devices overnight. Its attractive aluminum design will also look great on your nightstand. However, you’ll have to supply your own 20-watt power adapter. This $18 power adapter from Anker will certainly do the trick.
iOttie Velox MagSafe Wireless Charging Mount
Photograph: iOttie
The iOttie Velox allows you to magnetically charge your phone in the car without having to worry that it’ll fly off if you hit the curb or stop short. We’ve been using it for a while now and it has yet to fall off. Simply install it into your air vent and you’re good to go. This is also the lowest price we’ve tracked so far.
This is our go-to wall charger for power-hungry machines like the MacBook Pro, but you can also use it to charge devices like the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It comes with three USB-C ports—each with the ability to charge at 100 watts if only one device is connected—and folds up, making it easy to travel with. If you want to charge three gadgets simultaneously, depending on what you’re charging, it’ll charge them at 45, 30, and 30 watts respectively; 58, 30, and 20 watts; or 65, 20, and 20 watts. It’s also at the lowest price we’ve tracked yet.
If you’re constantly on the go and have a tendency to forget to pack chargers for your devices, Apple’s dual USB-C port power adapter is an essential accessory. With two USB-C ports, you can use it to recharge both your iPhone and MacBook simultaneously. Rated at 35 watts, it’s also powerful enough to recharge an iPad Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, and more.
iPhone Cases and Accessory Deals
Casetify Impact Case
Photograph: Casetify
Casetify offers an overwhelming amount of case designs. We specifically like the Impact MagSafe cases, which have chunky bumpers and edges to protect the screen and are also made of plant-based materials as well as upcycled Casetify cases. The Bounce case is another solid choice that feels more rugged but doesn’t add too much heft.
We only recommend this case for those who really love using PopSockets with an iPhone. It’s thick and bulky, but pushing the grip out will add stability. There’s no MagSafe support so it won’t grip your chargers or stands, but you can still pop the grip out to wirelessly charge your iPhone 14. OtterBox is also offering 40 percent off the standard Symmetry Series cases for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 line directly through its website.
This case, exclusively for the iPhone 14 Pro is an alternative to our top pick for best protection iPhone case. It’s rugged and can protect your phone from a number of drops without taking any damage, while still fitting comfortably in your pocket.
Mous Limitless 5.0 MagSafe Case
Photograph: Mous
We’re big fans of the wood case from Mous. It not only looks attractive, but it has strong magnets and a thick, rigid bumper. There’s also a spot to attach a lanyard, if you want.
Are you tired of people glancing over at your display in public? The Glass Elite Privacy 360 will block anyone from seeing content on your screen from the sides. It also feels great and is fairly easy to apply. Our only gripe is that Zagg’s screen protectors are often expensive. But this is cheaper than its previous $25 low in December 2022.
Enter code TOTALPRIME to see the discount at checkout. Totallee’s cases aren’t all that protective, but they are some of the thinnest on the market. It won’t provide you with very much drop protection, but it’s a good case for those who want to keep their phone safe from everyday scuffs. It also won’t add much bulk to your iPhone, which is always a plus.
