After what might be described as something of a fallow period of his career, Australian slugger Tai Tuivasa returns to the UFC cage this weekend where he will be seeking his first win in more than two years.
Tuivasa, who turns 31 in a few days’ time, is about as exciting a fighter as exists in the UFC’s heavyweight fold — a fact evidenced by 13 of his 14 career victories coming in the form of a knockout. However, more recently Tuivasa has found himself on the receiving end of some spectacular finishes, losing by spectacular knockout to both Sergey Pavlovich and Ciryl Gane, as well as a submission defeat to Alexander Volkov in his home country this past September.
‘Bam Bam,’ though, remains one of the most adept finishers in his own right on the UFC roster and against Poland’s Marcin Tybura in a main event fight in the organisation’s Apex facility outside Las Vegas late on Saturday night, he has an opportunity to arrest that streak of defeats.
