Hyperpigmentation, dark spots, age spots…whatever you want to call it, unwanted pigmentation patches can be a real skincare bugbear. And if you’re looking for the best anti-pigmentation products to treat them, Boots shopper think they might have found the solution.
La Roche-Posay makes some really great skincare serums, and its latest launch is perfect for anyone struggling with hyperpigmentation or post-acne scarring. Suitable for all skin tones, La Roche-Posay Mela B3 Serum has been 18 years in the making, and uses some clever skincare technology to target pigmentation.
Mela B3 usually costs £48 and is available to buy from retailers including LookFantastic, Cult Beauty and Superdrug – but its cheapest price is at Boots where it currently has 20% off, taking the price down to £38.40.

This La Roche-Posay serum works by trapped excess melanin before it reaches the skin’s surface. In this serum this key ingredient, Melasyl, is combined with 10% niacinamide for a multi-targeted approach to tackling pigmentation. It should be used once or twice a day on clean skin and before other actives, and always follow with one of the best face SPFs in the morning
La Roche-Posay found that 1 in 2 people suffer from pigmentary disorders, and so we predict this serum is going to be a real hit – especially if the shopper reviews it has already accumulated are anything to go by.
Hyperpigmentation can be caused by sun exposure and also hormones
“So far, this is the best serum I have used for hyperpigmentation,” wrote one Boots shopper. “After using it for a week, I have noticed the lighter patches of my skin got even lighter. The skin is so much clearer. So far, I am absolutely loving it.”
“La Roche Posay’s Mela B3 Serum has been an essential part of my skincare routine, effectively fading dark spots from past acne,” another wrote. “I highly recommend this serum to anyone dealing with hyperpigmentation issues, as it has made a significant difference in my skincare journey.”

A third five-star review reads: “I have spent way too much time in the sun and started using this on the recommendation of a friend to reduce my dark spots around my nose – I didn’t expect such amazing results. They’re barely visible now and it’s made me feel so much more confident without make-up.”
Another shopper-approved pigmentation problem-solver is Nivea Cellular Luminous 630 Anti Dark-Spot Tinted Fluid SPF20, £26.99, which Boots customers say “really works”.
Meanwhile some experts say the LED light masks can also help to reduce hyperpigmentation – and this CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Face Mask, £299, is the one that made an appearance in hit TV show Emily in Paris.
