A teenager, who had asked the police to beat him instead of arresting him, will know his fate tomorrow.
The accused man, Saheid Roach, was pointed out to the police by one of several students who were robbed of monies and cellular phones by a group of men in downtown Kingston, on March 15. He was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.
According to the case against Roach, on the day of the incident, police officers stationed in North Parade in downtown Kingston, were told by some high school students that a group of men had robbed them of their cellular phones and monies. Roach was pointed out by one of the youngsters. When Roach’s bag was searched, he was found with the three cellular phones – an iPhone 14, as well as two Samsung Galaxy handsets. Not wanting to go to jail, he made an interesting offer to the police.
“Offica, just beat me and let me go please,” begged Roach. However, Roach’s strange quid pro quo offer was not accepted by the police, who arrested and charged him with unlawful possession of property.
