Wide Open Children’s Theatre presents James and the Horse Pirates, a tabletop puppet theatre production. In the old west, James rides a wild tortoise to town and learns it has been taken over by a T-Rex. Then the horse pirates arrive. Cheer on James as she fights bandits and stereotypes with a big heart and tiny cowboy boots. Featuring songs and nonsense, the 45-minute play opens Friday and runs through April 7 at The Refinery. 2 — Remember a cult classic in a live show

Fubar Live is stopping in Saskatoon on its Western Canada tour, featuring improv comedy, rock and metal music, and audience interaction. Based on characters from the Canadian cult-classic film, the live show sees the film’s cast returning to their improv roots when a white lie about a bonus leads Terry and Trish down a path of generosity and overspending that could ruin the night. The 19+ show is at the Capitol Music Club Friday at 8 p.m. Learn more at fubar-themovie.com.

3 — Take part in an Easter Egg Hunt

The Saskatoon Farmers’ Market hosts an Easter Egg Hunt for kids on Saturday. Visit and shop the market while kids can pick up clues and solve them for prizes. Market helpers wearing bunny ears are around to provide clues and prizes while supplies last. The market is open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and closed Sunday for Easter. Learn more at saskatoonfarmersmarket.com.

4 — Last chance to register for pelican watch

Sunday is the last day to register for the annual Pelican Watch Contest, hosted by Meewasin Valley Authority with help from the Saskatoon Nature Society. A harbinger of spring in Saskatoon, the pelicans returning to the river has become a welcome sight every April since the late 1970s. The contest allows participants to submit a prediction of when the first pelican will land on the river between the CPR Bridge and the Saskatoon Weir. Prizes are awarded for the most accurate predictions. Learn more at meewasin.com.
