The Boston Red Sox lost an important part of their family last year when Tim Wakefield passed away after a battle with cancer.
Wakefield was an incredible pitcher during his 19-year MLB career, and he made an even bigger impact off of the field with his work with numerous charities including the Jimmy Fund.
Last week, Boston celebrated the 20th anniversary of the team’s 2004 World Series championship as well as the career and life of Wakefield and his wife, Stacy, who also recently passed away from cancer.
In his memory, former Red Sox pitcher Jonathan Papelbon, who is part of the team broadcasts, shared a new tattoo that pays tribute to his former teammate.
