Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has thoughts on how Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter should approach his NFL positioning.
In an appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Hill said he thinks Hunter, who plays cornerback and wide receiver, should focus on the receiver position when he gets to the league.
“His ability to just, you know, catch the ball, run routes,” Hill said. “And receivers, like, you get paid a whole lot more money, man. You feel me? Obviously, defensive back, you know what I’m saying, you can say, “Oh I locked the side down, man.” But to me, it’s all about positional value.”
Hunter has been a standout at both positions throughout his college career. Last season, he notched 31 tackles, eight passes deflected and three interceptions while picking up 721 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 57 receptions on the other side of the ball.
Hunter’s junior season at Colorado could be pivotal in helping him decide which position he pursues in the NFL. If he excels at one more than the other, that could be the position he sticks with to help him get drafted as high as possible.
While it’s rare, Hunter could take snaps on both sides of the ball. He would likely specialize in either receiver or cornerback but could still be utilized in the other. Hunter’s coach at Colorado, Deion Sanders, was primarily a cornerback but managed to notch 60 receptions for 784 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Whatever Hunter decides to do, there’s no doubt he has the chance to be a special talent in the NFL.
