April 23, (THEWILL) – Juventus earned a dramatic late victory over Lazio on Tuesday night, advancing to the Coppa Italia final despite losing the second leg 2-1 in Rome. Substitute Arkadiusz Milik scored the crucial winner in the 83rd minute to send the Bianconeri through on aggregate.
Lazio were looking to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg and got off to a flying start when Taty Castellanos headed them in front after just 12 minutes. The Argentine striker then equalised the tie overall by scoring early in the second half to make it 2-2 on aggregate.
However, Juventus had chances of their own with Dusan Vlahovic going close twice. The tide turned when Milik entered the fray off the bench and scored with virtually his first touch, turning in a cut-back from fellow sub, Timothy Weah.
Despite their valiant efforts, Lazio could not find another goal as Juventus held on to progress 3-2 on aggregate. Massimiliano Allegri’s men advance to their 22nd Coppa Italia final where they will face either Atalanta or Fiorentina on May 15, in Rome.
This caps a rollercoaster night at the raucous Stadio Olimpico, with the match swinging one way and then the other before Milik’s late heroics sent Juventus into yet another cup final.
