Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, stepped out on the first day of the Royal Windsor Horse Show in a gorgeous navy dress layered underneath an elegant tweed blazer, but for us, the real star of the show was her leather studded handbag.
After some digging, we found that the tan handbag is actually the Oskan Moon leather shoulder bag from French label Isabel Marant, £655 here. The crescent-shaped handbag is made from 100% calf leather and features gold metal stud detailing around the outside.
The Duchess effortlessly matched the gold stud detailing to the gold buttons on her dress and her gold brooch for a cohesive look. Navy and tan is a colour combo that always looks expensive and Sophie looks the epitome of English ‘countrycore’ fashion. Maybe she’s been taking tips from Claudia Winkleman. The sleek handbag seems to be one of the Duchess’s new favourites, only recently was she seen carrying it around on her visit to the British Cycling National Track Championships alongside her husband Prince Edward.

However, we know that over £600 can be a lot of money for a handbag if you’re on a budget so if you’re looking to get the same look for a bit less, we’ve found a cheaper alternative from Charles & Keith for £175 here..
Although still on the pricier side, the Charles and Keith studded Gabine bag will in fact save you almost £400 and is also made from calf leather making it an investment piece that will stand the test of time. The Gabine collection has a variety of different saddle and shoulder bags, but the tan colour and gold stud details on this one, in particular, give the bag that signature boho look for which Isabel Marant is known.

The half-moon shape of the Duchess’ handbag has been a massively popular bag silhouette among designer and high street brands over the past few years and Mango’s Laguna Oval shoulder bag, £29.99 here is another alternative under £30.
Despite not being entirely the same due to not featuring the gold stud details or the longer shoulder strap. The Mango version does hold that popular crescent-style shape and comes in a similar oaky brown shade, meaning you’ll be able to achieve a similar look for less. All you need now is an elegant navy shirt dress and some suede navy boots to nail Sophie’s chic royal style!
