How to Make a Barbie Cocktail
Molly Allen for Taste of Home
This cocktail is inspired by Malibu Barbie’s debut in 1971—and rerelease in 2001. Made with coconut rum and orange and raspberry liqueurs, it’s fun and fruity, with a splash of bubbles on top to make it sparkle!
Ingredients
1 1/2 ounces Malibu coconut rum
1 ounce orange liqueur
½ ounce raspberry liqueur
½ ounce lemon juice
Sparkling water
1 lemon, for garnish
Maraschino cherry, for garnish
Pink sanding sugar, for garnish
Directions
Step 1: Prep the glass

Pour pink sanding sugar onto a small plate. Cut the lemon into wedges. Cut a slit in one of the wedges and use it to rim the top of the glass. Dip the rim of the glass into the pink sanding sugar. Set aside.
Step 2: Shake the ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the Malibu rum, orange liqueur, raspberry liqueur and lemon juice. Shake vigorously.
Step 3: Pour into the glass and garnish

Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass. Use a knife to peel a strip of lemon peel. Twist the peel and put it on a toothpick with a maraschino cherry. Place the garnish on top of the drink.
Tips for Making a Barbie Cocktail
Make fun ice cube shapes (and fill them!)
Want to add even more fun to this cocktail? You can choose to pour it over beautiful ice cubes! Use fun ice cube trays to add shapes such as hearts, or you could even make ice cubes that are filled with fresh raspberries or made with juice.
What’s the best glass for a Barbie cocktail?
While this Barbie cocktail was made in a Tom Collins glass, it can be poured into a wide variety of cocktail glasses. Pour it into a Highball glass, a Hurricane glass or even a Nick and Nora glass. Just don’t forget the hot pink sugar rim!
What kind of garnishes should I use?
Molly Allen for Taste of Home
This cocktail is dressed up with a hot pink sanded rim, a pop of sunny yellow from a lemon peel twist, along with a classic maraschino cherry. However, the sky’s the limit when it comes to cocktail garnishes! Switch up the sanded rim decoration by adding metallics, sip on this drink with a pink paper straw or add a few edible pink flowers on top to bring it to life. Want it to be extra sparkly? Mix edible glitter or superfine beverage glitter into the drink. Pink, gold or silver is sure to do the trick!
