A transpacific brawl put hungry underdogs head-to-head with last year’s MSI runner-ups in a daring brawl that promised a semifinal slot.
The series had clean starts and dynamic skirmishes, with PSG underdogs surprising the MSI crowd with decisive macroplay and strategic counterplays that stayed the likes of BLG Bin.
Last year’s runner-ups also had a fantastic showing in the bo5. Periods of safe trades and objective captures were punctuated by high-octane plays that demonstrated Bilibili’s current powerhouse roster. A similar situation to yesterday’s match-up.
Here’s everything that happened in the PSG Talon vs Bilibili Gaming Bracket Stage derby.

BLG locked in a stellar mid-jungle comp that forced PSG Maple into playing respectfully until his team found an early advantage.
After a strong start from BLG, both teams played extremely safe until PSG’s bot duo initiated a skirmish that levelled the playing field. BLG lacked the summoner spells to aggressively strike back, so they focused on damage trades.
It turned out to be the right call. Just as PSG were starting to find a good lead, Elk and co. used their 1k gold lead to corral PSG’s Jungler, ADC and Support into a bad fight. A devastating cross-map ace followed.
That said, Betty and Maple were ferocious in their playmaking. Even in an uphill fight, PSG Talon still found great trades. But after Bilibili hit their stride, Xun and Elk’s unrivalled LPL macro couldn’t be stopped.
After two decisive teamfights, BLG slowly opened up all three lanes for the final siege that was headed by knight and Bin. Match one goes to Bilibili Gaming.

PSG Maple’s gutsy pick against knight’s Orianna and a Jarvan IV meant that his team needed to get ahead of some strong scaling champs.
PSG committed some pretty avoidable blunders in their laning phase for game two. After a failed tower dive, Bin followed up with two, very easy picks that made him the strongest player on the map five minutes in.
BLG slowly put more pressure on bot lane and got a few picks that secured a big lead.
Things weren’t looking good for PSG. And BLG were on their way for another botlane visit. This prompted JunJia to help protect his botlane duo. But despite having the Teleport advantage, BLG Xun still found an angle that separated Woody from his team and stopped PSG’s counteroffensive.
Despite a 6k gold deficit, PSG Talon persisted and found good fights that kept BLG from snowballing. And in an impressive display of perseverance, the Spring Kings equalized the score and dominantly flipped the script! Game two goes to the PCS #1 seed.

Neeko’s playmaking potential famously put PSG at the top of their region, but BLG’s aggressive team comp meant that they wouldn’t play as safe anymore.
PSG applied pressure where they could to take as many plates as possible. Meanwhile, a 1-for-1 down botlane helped suppress BLG’s ADC, who laneswapped to mid, but was humbled again after a flashy play from Betty’s Zeri.

As PSG’s kills mounted, their comfortable 7-1 lead put the Chinese team way behind. In a smart tactic, BLG focused on getting Herald to break their opponent’s midlane open and equalize the gold.
Sensing an opportunity, BLG intercepted PSG’s bid for Soul and forced the PCS team into an awkward position, letting Bin and co. clean up, balance the killscore and take the third match.

Bin finally locked in the Vayne. Was it what they needed to close out the bo5? Or was it an unnecessary risk?
BLG obliged Bin with a four-man botlane dive that gave Vayne first blood. Afterwards, both teams played respectfully before Woody, JunJia and Betty got a revenge kill.
From there, PSG maintained flawless vision score and got to the objectives before Bilibili could reorganize from previous teamfights. And the PCS underdogs secured another upset against the world’s best botlane duo, putting the series in silver scrapes!

JunJia’s Tahm Kench was countered by BLG’s double “Hail of Blades” Ashe-Varus comp, but all eyes were on Maple’s Azir.
That didn’t stop Xun from completely dictating the early game and securing first dragon, all six Grubs and the first two kills of the game. This monumental lead allowed BLG to team dive into PSG’s top turret and eviscerate the competition 6-0.
From there, Bin and knight were relentless, and found flawless kills throughout the game. With an unquestionable 19-2 lead, BLG closed out a series in a whiplash of a series point.
