One of the best things you can hear is that everything in your sandwich is made from scratch. The bread, the brined brisket, the pickles – everything. And that is what you will find unexpectedly at the Greenwood Fish Market. Yes, we know people come here for the the seafood fare but give this sandwich offering on the menu a chance. It comes loaded with a generous side of fries but let’s move on to the sandwich itself.
The pastrami is tender and is slathered with fried caper mustard aioli which elevates the flavors – if you think you have to travel far for a good ol’ pastrami sandwich, you really only have to go to Quayside Isle in Sentosa.
The Deli runs tills 6pm daily and is only available at the Quayside Isle outlet.

Breakfast Sammy by Korio

Spam and eggs in the morning is definitely a power combo – and you can find this (super) loaded into the Breakfast Sammy at Korio. Crispy spam lies atop a pillowy mountain of sauce gribiche which is a lofty version of your egg mayo with chives and packed into toasted brioche slices. Just a heads up, it will get quite messy so make sure you’re sitting down.

Asian PO Boy by The Rebel Gurl
The Rebel Gurl is truly a hidden gem to stumble upon. It operates from the back of the Epiphyte bar on Neil Road and carries a range of Vietnamese baguette sandwiches. The baguettes are also baked fresh instore. One of the highlights is the Asian PO Boy is all about texture. Battered fried shrimp coated with a tangy Thai chilli sauce and complemented with a refreshing Asian slaw.
If you just want the meats, try the Rebel Boss that is a combination of the eatery’s original and traditional Banh Mis. Every bite is met with different kinds of meat like chicken patties, Cha Lua (Vietnamese spam) and chicken ham.

Texas Chicken Toast by Long John Silver
First of all, we’re not gonna accept any LJS hate until you try the breakfast sammies. But better not snooze, breakfast only runs from 7:30am to 11am. In a world of aggressive marketing from other fast food chains and their breakfast offerings, LJS’ breakfast sandwiches are severely underrated.
From the list, the Texas Chicken Toast is a star. Spicy grilled chicken meat, a thick slab of omelette and buttered thick toast are the only ingredients but it can definitely make your day. A set meal also comes with a hashbrown and tea or coffee. McDonald’s who?

Buff Beef Bro by 46 Mittsu

This is one sandwich you want to have beef with. By beef we mean to savor every minute you have holding this baby lovingly in your two hands. Messy, full of flavor and THICK are just some key indicators of a good burger and with that, 46 Mittsu have excelled. This sando stacks a lovely runny sunny side up on some pickled jalapenos and onions on a mound of braised beef. Wew.
Besides the Buff Beef, this place has other sandos worthy of trying in its repertoire – and doesn’t forget the vegetarians too! It’s veggie offering features grilled broccolini and a huge chunk of burrata.

Cubano Greenwood Fish Market
Another sandwich you can trust this seafood empire with is their cubano. Good cubanos are tough to find in Singapore today (RIP El Cubanos).
Their pressed brioche is layered with sweet honey roasted ham, habanero, gherkins and slattered in whole grain mustard aioli, and served with a side of double fried fries and pickled habanero.

Crispy Doori burger by Mahmud’s Tandoor
Some might argue that this is technically a burger we’d like to think that an important part of a burger is a meat patty which is a small cake made from chopped or minced meat so yeah, no because at Mahmud’s Tandoor, a whole slab of chicken thigh that has been marinated in tandoori spices and then coated with a batter and fried is found in every Crispy Doori burger. The fried chicken is balanced with a harissa mayo and a slice of cheese. We recommend ordering in a set because it comes with crispy masala fries for the ultimate flavorbomb.

Pepper Jack by Chix Hot Chicken
A local favorite Nashville chicken sandwich joint owned by a local favorite Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah gets a spot on our list for always delivering a monstrous sandwich that can barely hold its meaty fried chicken.
Most of their burgers are a hit. A favorite of ours is the less spicy Pepper Jack that is made with pepperjack cheese, pickles and doused in yuzu sauce. There’s no such thing as drizzle in this joint. The contents are drowned in their sauces, mostly hot sauces that are still flavorful despite the heat.
Everything melds together tastefully, though the sauces will get on your face, hands and maybe the shirt.
Other buns worth trying are the classic Soul Slider with slaw and its signature pink sauce, and the Breakfast Slider with scrambled eggs and cheddar. Not to mention, their tenders are the size of a child’s arm.

Chopped Cheese from Quality Melts
If you’re looking for a sinful satisfying food to sober up with, these chopped cheeses from Quality Melts will do the trick.
Initially set up as a hawker stall by former bartender Edwin Tan from Sago House, the 1950s-inspired diner now offers grilled goodness like its signature Chopped Cheese that is smothered in cheese and packed with crunchy grilled beef that its milk buns cannot hold. There are different variations that come with cauliflower and pork but they all are hefty and will sure knock you out with the meat sweats.
A side also worth mentioning is the Loaded Tots that is stacked with more meat, chilli mayo, cheddar and Colby jack cheese.
There’s no shame in stuffing yourself with cholesterol-filled food every once in a while so why not do it right? Don’t bother thinking about looking great while eating though, everything will turn into a sloppy mess but that’s the point.
