Three killed, five injured in late-night boat collision on Bob's Lake north of Kingston

Frontenac OPP and paramedics responded to a 911 just after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday evening for multiple people injured in what was described as a two-boat collision in the Bucks Bay area of the lake.

Three people are deceased and five others injured following a boat collision on Bobs Lake, north of Kingston, late Saturday evening, police have confirmed.

Frontenac Ontario Provincial Police and paramedics responded to a 911 just after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday evening for multiple people injured in what was described as a two-boat collision in the Bucks Bay area of the lake. One boat was described as an open bow fishing style boat and the other as a speed boat.

Members of the Frontenac detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP emergency response team, canine unit, other OPP units, South Frontenac Fire and Rescue, Central Frontenac Fire and Rescue and Frontenac Paramedics responded to scene. Police and firefighters had boats in the water to search for and recover victims.

Three people were pronounced deceased at the scene:

a 21-year-old female from South Frontenac Townshipa 22-year-old female from Elginburga 23-year-old male from South Frontenac

Five other people, ranging in age from 21 to 44, were transported to a Kingston General Hospital with a range of injuries. One was transported by Ornge Air due to the severity of their injuries. Others involved were checked out at the scene by paramedics.

Frontenac OPP continues to investigate the cause of the collision, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Technical Collision Investigation Team, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

At this point, it is unknown whether alcohol or speed were factors in the collision or whether the occupants of the watercrafts were wearing life preservers, OPP Const. Rob Martell said on Sunday morning.
