Bijan Robinson is going to have a new role in the Atlanta Falcons offense under new head coach Raheem Morris and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, and it sounds as though it will make him a force to be reckoned with in fantasy football.
“I’m going to be more of a runner that does everything else,” he said Monday, via D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “… It’s like run first, like I did in college and then still have access to go to receiver. Still have access to do creative things out of the backfield. More so, like how they use Christian (McCaffrey) down there in San Francisco. Something like that. That is kind of what the plan is here.”
If the Falcons use Robinson at all like the Niners’ utilize McCaffrey, he should have a monster season. McCaffrey was given 339 touches last season (272 carries, 67 receptions), accumulating 2,023 yards from scrimmage and 21 total touchdowns.
Expecting Robinson to replicate those epic numbers is unfair. But Robinson was only given 272 touches (214 carries, 58 receptions) last season, turning them into 1,463 yards and eight touchdowns.
Now imagine him getting nearly 70 more touches. From a fantasy perspective, Robinson is looking like a potential top-three pick and a clear RB1 on your team.
