‘Panchayat’ actor Aasif Khan, who played the role of a groom of Phulera, was working in the same hotel where Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan got married. He worked at the Taj Hotel and washed dishes at the time of the big wedding. In a recent interview, he shared that he was denied a photo with the stars at that time, and cried because of that.
During a podcast with ABP Uncut, Aasif Khan shared that he was washing the dishes at Taj Hotel when Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor got married. When he asked for a photo with the stars, he was denied the permission. “I cried that day as I could not meet the actors despite being so close to them,” he confessed.
However, this also pushed him to work harder for his goal. He also recounted being humiliated by a casting agent with whom he had fixed a meeting shortly after the incident.
“The manager of the firm told meâ€æ. ‘Don’t take my feedback personally, I am giving you honest feedback. Neither your looks are attractive, nor your body is very good, why would anyone cast you’,” he said.
That’s when Aasif Khan went back to Jaipur, honed his skill by doing theatre and then returned to Mumbai.
He began his journey in the entertainment industry as a casting director. He later worked as a junior artist in Salman Khan’s ‘Ready’, Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Agneepath’, Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’, to name a few. He played a prominent role in the ‘Panchayat’ series. He is also a part of ‘Mirzapur’.
