Midfielder Thalente Mbatha’s agent Mike Makaab has revealed how the initial loan deal from SuperSport United to Orlando Pirates was structured and also opened up on the negotiations over a permanent stay.
Mbatha joined Pirates on loan from SuperSport in January and although he was not immediately drafted into the regular team, he proved his worth towards the end of the season with impressive performances.

The 24-year-old has quickly earned a good reputation among the Buccaneers supporters, who are anxiously waiting on whether he will be acquired permanently during the off-season.
Makaab, CEO of ProSport International, has confirmed to KickOff that Mbatha to Ezimnyama is almost a done deal, but he has to respect the Houghton-based outfit enough to allow them to make the announcement.
“Thalente Mbatha, the deal with Pirates is as good as done. I don’t like to make announcements because that’s not my place.
“My place is to give you the facts, to say the deal is almost as good as done, but I have to respect the fact that Pirates and SuperSport are doing the final bits and pieces.
“And once Pirates have done that, they will make the announcement. As I’ve said in the last few weeks, I’d be very surprised if he’s not a Buccaneers in a new season, a permanent Buccaneer,” Makaab emphasized.
What makes Makaab confident of the deal going over the line is the fact that the agreements were pre-arranged on the terms of the loan deal in January.
“All these things were pre-agreed, so it’s just the details [that need to be ironed out].”

“I’ve worked with Pirates for many years, they would not make any announcement unless 100 percent, all the i’s have been dotted and all the t’s have been crossed.
“That’s how the chairman [Irvin Khoza] works,” he concluded.
