Why the Black Butler Manga is Taking a Break Prior to Climax

The Black Butler manga will soon be reaching its climax, but before that, it’s taking a break. G Fantasy magazine from Square Enix shared this news online, along with a note from manga creator Yana Toboso. There’s nothing to worry about with this hiatus, as she’s not sick or hurt or anything like that. Instead, she’s using the break to do research and get things prepped to finish the series.
It’s not known how long the hiatus will last. G Fantasy magazine will share that news at some point in the future.
The Black Butler manga made its debut almost twenty years ago, in 2006. Before long an anime adaptation began, and that anime, after seeing its own hiatus, has returned with Black Butler -Public School Arc-, which is available on Crunchyroll.
Yen Press publishes the Black Butler manga in English, and gave this description for the first volume:
Just a stone’s throw from London lies the manor house of the illustrious Phantomhive earldom, its master one Ciel Phantomhive. Earl Phantomhive is a giant in the world of commerce, Queen Victoria’s faithful servant . . . and a slip of a twelve-year old boy. Fortunately, his loyal butler, Sebastian, is ever at his side, ready to carry out the young master’s wishes. And whether Sebastian is called to save a dinner party gone awry or probe the dark secrets of London’s underbelly, there is practically nothing Sebastian cannot do. In fact, one might even say Sebastian is too good to be true . . . or at least, he is too good to be human . . .
While you wait for new Black Butler chapters, you can check out this recent interview Otaku USA did with J. Michael Tatum and Brina Palencia about reprising their roles as Sebastian Michaelis and Ciel Phantomhive in the anime’s English dub.
