The Gatineau Police Service said Friday that more than 30 criminal charges had been laid against four individuals over firearms incidents in the city this week.
The charges were authorized by Quebec’s Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions, a news release said.
In the first case, a 29-year-old Gatineau man appeared in court Friday to face 10 charges, including being in the presence of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of prohibited devices, possession of a loaded weapon and carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was arrested Thursday evening following the investigation into an incident early Wednesday, when a Gatineau hospital informed police about an individual who appeared to have gunshot wounds.
In the second case, residents on rue du Ravin-Bleu in the Mont-Bleu neighbourhood reported hearing possible gunshots late Thursday.
Police officers in the area located a vehicle containing three suspects and arrested them on Highway 50 near Maloney Boulevard West.
The three men also appeared in court on Friday.
The police release said an 18-year-old from Thursday faced 10 charges, including geing in the presence of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, intentionally discharging a firearm in the direction of a location, possession of a restricted weapon, possession of a loaded restricted weapon, carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a weapon with the intention of committing an offence.
A 19-year-old from Gatineau faced seven charges, including being in the presence of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, intentionally discharging a firearm in the direction of a place, possession of a restricted weapon, possession of a loaded restricted weapon and breach of conditions.

Meanwhile, a 40-year-old from Gatineau faced six charges, including being in the presence of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, intentionally discharging a firearm in the direction of a location, possession of a restricted weapon, possession of a loaded restricted weapon and carrying a weapon with the intention of committing an offence.
Investigations into the two incidents were continuing “and other arrests could be made,” Gatineau police said.
