Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till will make his professional debut this weekend.
The 31-year-old, who stepped away from the UFC shortly after sustaining his fifth loss in six fights against Dricus du Plessis in December 2022, was slated to fight former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on July 20 on the undercard of the mammoth Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul card set to take place in the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
However, a medical issue experienced by Tyson in recent weeks has forced the postponement of that bout to November — and canned the undercard, which was also set to feature the high stakes rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
But despite the Chavez Jr bout falling apart, Till has moved quickly (very, very quickly) to secure a secondary option, and it will come this Saturday night in Dubai against the the 2-2-1 MMA fighter Moh Mutie, known as the ‘Palestinian Gorilla’ at an event called Social Knockout 3.
According to MMA Fighting, the Till vs. Mutie bout will take place at cruiserweight (200-pounds) and will be contested across four rounds.
Jake Paul, meanwhile, fights BKFC star Mike Perry later this month while Chavez Jr will instead fight another former UFC fighter, Uriah Hall.
Social Knockout 3 can be purchased at this link.
