Several of the island’s ports have been reopened in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
The Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) advised that the locations which were reopened on Thursday are Kingston Harbour, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios/Reynolds Pier, Port Antonio, Portland Bight/Old Harbour Bay, and Noranda Bauxite Pier.
This was done after the completion of surveys and a review of reports indicating that all was clear for the resumption of services.
The ports’ reopening facilitated the docking of ships at designated terminals on Thursday in preparation for the commencement of operations on Friday, thereby enabling seamless flow to these locations and efficient service delivery at the terminals.
The Port Authority will continue to provide updates regarding its activities as the entity works towards the resumption of normal business operations.
