‘If changes happen, they happen’ – Bayern boss Tuchel not distracted by transfer talk
Fulham have signed Raul Jimenez from Wolves for a fee reported to be around £5 million.
Jimenez, 32, has agreed a contract with The Cottagers until the summer of 2025, with a club option to extend by a further 12 months.
“It’s really important for me to arrive here,” Jimenez told the Fulham website.
“I will try to do my best for the team, one of the most iconic teams in the Premier League.
“I’m happy to be here and to play in this stadium, it’s a really good stadium, I like it here.
“I’m going to give my best to keep scoring goals in the Premier League.”
The Mexico international joined Wolves on an initial loan deal in 2018 and made the move permanent for £30m after scoring 17 goals to help the club reach the FA Cup semi-final and claim a seventh-place Premier League finish.
In total, Jimenez netted 44 goals in his first two seasons with Wolves before suffering a fractured skull away at Arsenal in November 2020. Since then, he has scored just six Premier League goals and failed to find the net in 15 league games last season.
The Mexico international had a year left on his Wolves contract and is reportedly a direct replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is attracting interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.
Mitrovic scored 14 goals in 24 Premier League appearances last season. Fulham have reportedly rejected two bids from Al Hilal whose latest offer was in the region of £35m.
The Serbia international has not taken part in Fulham’s pre-season programme so far.
“It is not the ideal scenario, not because he received an offer. It is all the situation about himself,” manager Marco Silva told reporters at a press conference in Philadelphia ahead of the club’s pre-season friendly against Brentford.
“As you know, he is not going to play tomorrow, he didn’t play last Wednesday, he is not working properly with his team-mates, and when I say it is not the ideal scenario, this is the situation.”
