If the servers are down, this will give you the best possible chance to find out why and when they are expected to be back online.

Finally, you can check the official Sea of Thieves social media pages. These will usually tell you when the outage began and when they might be back online. All Sea of Thieves maintenance times
Sea of Thieves goes down for maintenance at 9 AM UTC or 10 AM BST for big updates, such as a seasonal update or adding a new adventure. Recall that developer Rare is based in the U.K. In the U.S., this converts to 2 PM PT or 5 AM ET. Depending on the update’s size, the game may be down for as short as half an hour to several hours long.
