The West Indies amassed a first innings lead on day three of the second test against England at Trent Bridge, but find themselves in a dog fight heading into Sunday’s penultimate day. The English closed the day in their second innings at 248-3, a lead of 207.
Harry Brook 71 and former captain Joe Root 37, are the men who are set to resume in what is a 108 run fourth wicket stand. Alzarri Joseph with 2-58 reduced the hosts to 140-3 after a half century from Ben Duckett 76.
Earlier, the West Indies scored 450 or more runs in an innings for the first time since 2014 after surpassing England’s first innings score of 416 to be bowled out for 457, giving England a 41 run first innings deficit.
The Caribbean side started the day 65 runs behind at 351-5 and lost Jason Holder early for 27.
Chris Woakes picked up back to back wickets in the 99th over to leave the visitors at 386-9, losing 4 wickets for 35 runs.
However, Joshua Da Silva with his 5th test half century and Shamar Joseph added 71 runs for the final wicket.
Da Silva was left not out on 82, while Joseph made 33. Woakes was the pick of the England bowlers with 4-84, while Gus Atkinson and Shoaib Bashir both took 2 wickets.
