Audi will probably pull the curtain on the fully electric Q6 e-tron later this year. A brand new SUV on the new PPE base that Audi shares with Porsche. The Audi Q6 e-tron can now be seen from all angles.
There is now – at least technically speaking – still quite a gap between the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Audi Q8 e-tron, but the Germans will soon put a (how could it be otherwise) Q6 e-tron called newcomer in between. Much needed reinforcement, because competitors Mercedes-Benz and BMW are already represented in this corner of the market with the still fairly fresh EQE SUV and the iX, respectively, while the Q8 e-tron, renamed and renewed Audi E-Tron, despite its improved technology getting old.
In any case, the Audi Q6 e-tron will fit quite seamlessly between its little and big brother not only in name but also in appearance. The psychedelic sticker art on the examples shown here cannot hide the fact that we are dealing with an SUV that is basically designed according to the same philosophy as the Q4 e-tron, although it does have its own face thanks to the headlights cut into two parts.
The technical basis of the Audi Q6 e-tron is a completely different story from that of its two electric high relatives. The Q4 e-tron is on the MEB base and the Q8 e-tron is still on the MLB Evo platform, which is not purely intended for EVs, but the Audi Q6 e-tron is enthroned on the new PPE base. A dedicated EV platform that Audi has developed together with Porsche and on which the upcoming electric Porsche Macan will also appear. Audi is still holding the cards tight to the chest when it comes to the performance that is possible with it. In any case, count on impressive charging speeds (more than the 270 kW of the E-Tron GT), 800V architecture, and a more than 600 hp RS version.
