A man has suffered serious injuries at a mine in the New South Wales central west, forcing the temporary suspension of operations.
The miner was hurt last night at Newcrest’s Cadia gold mine near Orange and was given medical treatment on the scene before being taken to hospital.
In a statement, general manager Mick Dewar said no-one else was injured and the resources regulator had been notified.
“A team member being seriously injured is devastating news that no one wants to hear,” Mr Dewar said.
“We temporarily suspended underground operations and are working closely with the resource regulator and relevant authorities to understand what happened.”
