Jamie Foxx is facing backlash after sharing an Instagram post about Jesus Christ on Friday that many perceived to be spreading hate against Jews.
The since-deleted post read, “They killed this dude named Jesus … What do you think they’ll do to you?! #fakefriends #fakelove.”
One critic tweeted in response, “I am a Jewish advocate who fights antisemitism. Jamie Foxx’s post was a horrifically antisemitic message rooted in classic blood libel and anti Jewish conspiracy theory.”
They continued, “He has 16.7 million followers. I’m not waiting on him to further expand.”
Another agreed, “Seeing someone like Jamie Foxx post antisemitic content is a sad reminder that Jews can’t just exist like most everyone else. There will always be people who hate us.”

However, others questioned whether there was really anti-Jewish rhetoric in the controversial post.
“How did Jamie Foxx’s post read as antisemitic? (Rhetorical question)” a third person said on Twitter. “It’s so easy to think from your own experiences ..but literally as a Black person raised Christian in Texas as well I know for a fact he was talking about friends and followers betraying you not Jews 🙃😂”
Jennifer Aniston initially “liked” the post when it was still up, and was later forced to denounced antisemitism herself via her Instagram Story.

Meanwhile, a fourth person, who appeared to see both sides of the argument, added, “Jamie Foxx could be talking about friends who betrayed him, but the accusation of deicide is one that has led to the torment and persecution of Jews for centuries and this is why this comment is dangerous. Some of the comments on it have been repugnant to say the least.”
Page Six has reached out to Foxx’s reps for comment but did not immediately hear back. The “They Cloned Tyrone” star has not directly addressed the backlash himself on social media.
Foxx, 55, was raised Christian and has been open about his religious views with the public for years.

In December 2019, he spoke with the Christian Post about attending frequently practicing his faith growing up.
“I grew up in church. I mean, church, every single day. Church, church, church, church,” the Oscar winner said at the time.
However, Foxx also noted in the interview that he would sometimes discriminated against by other church members due to the color of his skin, which he found “odd.”

The “Just Mercy” star then added, “I think when that very religion, which is supposed to take us to a beautiful place, becomes a tool to divide, that’s where you leave people sort of [disillusioned].”
After Foxx suffered a mysterious health scare recently, he took to social media to thank his supporters, captioning a video on Instagram, “Thank u a billion to everybody… been a long road but all the prayers great people and God got me through…. 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️”

Despite his devotion to Christianity, Foxx has seemingly shown love to Jewish people in the past.
In December 2017, the “Jamie Foxx Show” alum attended Drake’s bar mitzvah-themed birthday party.
Earlier that same year, Foxx and the “God’s Plan” rapper, 36, performed at a Jewish fan’s bar mitzvah in Netherlands.
However, the “Django Unchained” star’s latest post has drawn comparisons to other black celebrities, who have been under fire before for anti-Jewish rhetoric, including Kanye West.
“For crying out loud. Has Jamie Foxx gone full Kanye on us? #JewHate,” one Twitter user asked, while another remarked, “Sigh. Looks like Jamie Foxx has been hanging out with #Kanye. #Antisemitism.”
