By India Today News Desk: Veteran Hollywood actor Richard Gere hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on a three-day visit to the United States and said the prime minister is a product of Indian culture.
“It is a lovely message. He [PM Modi] is a product of Indian culture and comes from a vast place like Indian culture does. This message of universal brotherhood and sisterhood is the one we want to hear again and again,” Richard Gere told news agency ANI.
Gere performed Yoga on the lawns of the UN headquarters in New York to mark International Yoga Day on Wednesday.

Among the prominent personalities who joined Modi for a yoga session at the UN headquarters were Csaba Korosi, a Hungarian diplomat currently serving as the President of the 77th UN General Assembly, and Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of the UN and Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Group.
Actor Richard Gere, who was pictured sitting opposite to the prime minister, is also an advocate for human rights in Tibet and a co-founder of the Tibet House, US, and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the International Campaign for Tibet.

After concluding the first leg of his visit, PM Modi has arrived in Washington DC to hold bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden and attend a state banquet on Thursday. Indian community members braved rain to welcome PM Modi at Freedom Plaza and some staged cultural programmes including ‘Garba’ and other folk dances outside the hotel in Washington DC where the prime minister will stay.

“Reached Washington DC. The warmth of the Indian community and the blessings of Indra Devta made the arrival even more special,” he tweeted.
During the visit, PM Modi and First Lady Jill Biden met students from the US and India who are learning skills to succeed in industries vital to the economies of the two countries at the National Science Foundation in Virginia.
