Bafana Bafana forward Lyle Foster made his English Premier League debut against Manchester City on Friday night.
Although the Citizens trashed Burnely 3-0 in the opening games of the season, the former Orlando Pirates striker had a solid game against the defending champions.
Foster was one of the few Burnley players who impressed on the night making two tackles. He also made five ball recoveries and won five duels. Before he was taken off in the 90th minute, the Bafana star completed 20 passes, the most out of any Burnley player on the night.

Foster made some good runs on the left side of City’s defence and even had one shot curled wide of goal.

Although the Clarets were beaten at home, they kept City quiet for some periods, especially in the second half. Two goals from Erling Haaland in the second half killed off the game but the home team remained compact despite creating little chances. The defending champions pushed for the third goal later in the second half and with 15 minutes to go, Rodri found the back of the net to give Pep Guardiola their first win of the season.

“There’s no problem at all. It was about a connection with the players. He wanted the ball in behind him and that ball hasn’t to be in behind. “Sometimes you have to be patient to find the right moment,”he said as per The Mirror.
Foster and his Burnley teammates will now take on Aston Villa on August 27 at Turf Moor as they look for their first win of the season.
