Despite Roger Federer’s Retirement, Tennis Continues to Reap Benefits off Swiss Maestro’s ‘Rockstar’ Image as Unveiled in a Brutally Honest Admission
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Roger Federer has set the retirement bar too high with engaging activities focused on the sport. When the Swiss star deviates from sport, he ensures to still make fans a part of his life and shares every little joy with his extended family worldwide. The worried tennis community found solace in the Swiss Maestro’s breath-taking engagements, ranging from attending major tennis tournaments to music concerts and even taking his loyal fan club for a private cruise ride. In fact, his popularity knows little bounds and is one of the biggest presences in the game – as a certain former player admitted!

Tennis enthusiasts thought the absence of the Big 3 would cost the Laver Cup a fortune, and the tournament would probably be a disaster. But Federer’s presence lit up his creation, which astounded the tennis world. A former British professional dished out his sincere take on the Swiss veteran’s impact on the game, despite his farewell over a year ago.

The 42-year-old is running on a busier schedule than he ever did as an active athlete. In his two decades of career, Federer has always been the favorite for his charm and humility. His off-court activities, gliding smoothly through life, and pursuing his various passions regardless of age made him the undisputable fan favorite.

So, the tennis community is doing everything it can to keep Federer occupied with the sport. In a conversation with Mitch Michaels in the ‘Tennis Channel’s Inside-In,’ podcast, former ATP professional Mark Petchey summarized Federer’s importance in the game. He asserted, “I think the fact that he’s still involved in the game is obviously great for tennis. Number one, I mean, he is just he is a rock star. He is one of those rock stars of tennis that when he’s around, people go crazy.”

Petchey got candid on King Roger’s appeal, as he declared, “It’s very important for tennis to keep Roger involved in the game as well, whatever avenues that he decides to take. Whether it’s just purely through the vehicle of Laver Cup, whether it’s other things, you know, Roger, being involved, just puts the optics that much higher.”

The tennis commentator shared his abridged version of Federer and how consistent he remained over the years. In fact, the 20-time Grand Slam champion even impressed America’s most formidable critic for influencing the game. The American, too, declared an ultimate Federer verdict that is impossible to match.

Eurosport expert Mats Wilander is famous for being hard on Federer. Though the American declared Novak Djokovic the best player of all time, he reserved the ‘greatest’ for the former World No.1. Wilander is among the first to acknowledge that King Roger’s retirement is the saddest he has ever witnessed in tennis. The seven-time Grand Slam stated that Federer is the reason behind putting tennis on everybody’s TV sets.

Andy Murray‘s former coach concluded, “You see his star status, you see him walking around, and you see just how important he is. So, listen, I’ve never met anybody that seems happier, more optimistic, that just has this love of life means that just radiates off him. And he is never different whenever I’ve seen him in the entirety of the last 20-plus years.”

The Swiss Maestro has no plans of going off the radar, as he recently expressed his bombshell Laver Cup wish. When Bjorn Borg asked if he would like to be Team Europe’s caption, the 103 singles titles winner revealed that he loves to remain connected to the sport in any form. But Federer never let go of his humility as he credited ‘king’ Borg for his impeccable leadership and stated that he would lead by the path laid by the latter. Are you excited to watch Federer in a new role? Let us know in the comments.
