As this year’s summer series of Love Island continues with dramatic recouplings and brutal dumpings we to get learn more and more about our favourite show. Former Islanders have been lifting the lid on what really goes on inside the villa that isn’t shown on TV.

Former Love Island star, Amy Hart, 30 who appeared on the ITV2 dating show back in 2019 has often been open with fans about what really goes on behind the scenes. Taking to TikTok the now mum of one has dished juicy details about the show, including what happens when their period arrives in the villa.

The highly-requested video received over 5 million views as Amy answered the question from fans. Talking to the camera she said: “I’ve had this so many times in all the comments.

“I don’t really understand what you think I’m going to say, like we’re segregated in another room, only allowed to wear in black bikinis?”

She went on to say: “We just get on with it like you would do if you’re on holiday.”

In an attempt to avoid having a period while filming, Amy admitted she tried to ran her “pill packs together”. She said: “because I didn’t want to have a period while I was in there and the doctor was like, ‘Yeah, that’s not going to work’, and I was like, ‘It will, it will’.

“And it did work until it didn’t, which was annoying. But yeah, you just get on with it.”

She captioned the video: “I understand everyone is different and they’d make allowances I’m sure. I was just talking about my experience and meant we weren’t banished.”

Love Island recently confirmed that this year’s cast will be once again banned from keeping their social media accounts updated while they are in the villa. In previous series of the show, contestants have had friends, family or PR workers running their Instagram and Twitter accounts – sharing memes or occasionally responding to controversies with statements on their behalf.

But for Winter Love Island 2023, in South Africa, the show’s producers asked participants to pause social media handles and accounts for the duration of their time on the show as part of new duty-of-care measures. The move was slammed by Islanders who took part in the series, Zara Lackenby-Brown and Tanyel Revan, who said it ‘stunted success’.

Speaking about her experience with social media while on the show, Amy said: “I didn’t really take into account when I went into the villa that although my best friend was really excited to run my social media account, it was me that signed up to do the show, not my family and not my friends.

“But it was them that had to read the death threats and it was them that had to read the horrible messages. Whereas when I came out, I came out to a great reaction because of the way that I left, and they were the ones who had a hard time when I was in there.”
