Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfig Al Rabiah
Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfig Al Rabiah said the ministry’s post-COVID preparations are carried out through coordination and follow-up with the Ministry of Health to monitor epidemics in countries.
He told Argaam in the government press conference that indicators are positive for Hajj this year.
The ministry follows the necessary procedures set by the Ministry of Health, Al Rabiah said. He indicated that the latter has a large number of more than 30,000 people serving pilgrims. In addition, it has a strong health system to deal with such epidemics urgently and ensure the safety of pilgrims.
The Kingdom’s efforts to manage the health of pilgrims are distinguished historically, thanks to the Global Center for Mass Gatherings Medicine in the Kingdom, which was established in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO), the ministry said. He noted that this is the only international center accredited by WHO.
Asked about the Hajj budget, Al Rabiah said that each government agency has its own budget, which confirms that the Saudi leadership spends generously on serving pilgrims.
The Kingdom spent hundreds of billions on developing the infrastructure of the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah and is still spending on this sector and facilitating the service to the pilgrims.
In January, Al Rabiah said Saudi Arabia would receive more than two million pilgrims this year, as reported earlier by Argaam.
