HUTCHINSON, KS, October 12, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Jim Remar has been inducted into Marquis Who’s Who. Mr. Remar, president and chief executive officer of Cosmosphere, Inc., possesses more than two decades of professional experience in operational oversight, strategic planning, entrepreneurship and business development. A leader in his field, he is a valued member of the team at the Cosmosphere International SciEd Center & Space Museum, an organization that inspires innovation through science education and honors the history of space exploration.
After serving as Cosmosphere’s senior vice president from 2000 to 2008, Mr. Remar was employed as vice president of operations for Gregory, Inc., from 2008 to 2012. He then returned to Cosmosphere in 2012 as the museum’s chief operating officer and was promoted to his current role in 2018. Today, his myriad responsibilities include fundraising and development, exhibit development, artifact preservation, strategic planning and oversight and educational programming oversight.
Looking back over his years with the organization, Mr. Remar considers his most notable achievement to be participating in the restoration of NASA’s Johnson Space Center’s historic mission control. In this project, and in other aspects of his career, he attributes his success to hard work, dedication, and a desire to excel, as well as to the support of his excellent team members.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Remar earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Washburn University in 1995 and a Master of Arts in museum administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1996. Later in his career, after gaining extensive on-the-ground experience in the museum field, he completed a mini-MBA program at Wichita State University in 2014.
Mr. Remar serves as chairman of the board of the Giant Screen Cinema Association and is active with the Association of Science Museum Directors, the Association of Science and Technology Centers, and the American Alliance of Museums. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and his dog, reading, listening to music, and playing golf.
