With Amazon Prime’s “The Wheel of Time” having just wrapped its second season run on the streamer, attention has turned towards the third season.
Appearing at New York Comic-Con over the weekend, executive producer Marigo Kehoe, VFX supervisor Andy Scrase and VFX producer Brian Shows all showed up to discuss both the recently aired second season and the upcoming third.
In addition, showrunner Rafe Judkins made a surprise appearance at the end of the panel. They all confirm the new run will focus primarily on storylines from the fourth book in the series titled “The Shadow Rising” but would also introduce elements from the fifth book “The Fires of Heaven”.
This will include exploring the concept of Dreamwalking, meeting members of the Forsaken, and visiting locations like Tanchico, Rhuidean, and the Aiel Waste along with a return to the Two Rivers and the introduction of the Sea Folk.
The new run will also explore new versions of channelling in other cultures. All scripts for the third season were done well before the writer’s strike with shooting commencing in April.
Most of the filming has taken place in Slovenia and the Czech Republic where it’s expected to wrap scenes for the latter in November. Shooting is also expected to take place soon in South Africa.
