Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis has earned the highest safety rating in the U.S. with its flagship Genesis G80 sedan.
The G80 was included among the winners of this year’s Top Safety Pick+ as rated by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently.
The G80 was the winner in the large luxury cars segment along with the G90, while the GV60 was included in the small SUVs segment and the GV70 in the midsize luxury SUVs segment.
With the latest ratings, seven of the eight Genesis models sold in the U.S. are now recognized as among the safest cars by the IIHS.
The IIHS, a nonprofit organization established in 1959, carries out thorough crash tests every year to gauge the safety of cars released in the U.S. market. Its evaluations serve as the main indicator U.S. consumers refer to when judging cars’ safety.
Of some 220 vehicles evaluated by the IIHS so far this year, only 55 have earned the Top Safety Pick+ rating.
