Now, someone close to the ex-couple decided to share what happened to their relationship and why it ended.

The two never missed a moment to show each other and the world how much they mean to each other. Every year, Jackman honored his wife by publicly sharing how much he loved her, and fans always admired and gushed over the outpour of love.
In April 2023, on their 27th and last wedding anniversary, Jackman shared a loving tribute to his wife, stating, “27 YEARS! I love you so much; together, we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage, and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart.”
A few months later, one of Hollywood’s most loved duos announced their separation.

In a joint statement, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee announced, “We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.
Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
Insiders revealed their split was bound to happen sooner or later.

In an interview, a source close revealed the announcement of their separation didn’t actually come out of the blue. It was something that was already expected by those close to them. “It happened a while ago. Friends and family knew about it,” the insider disclosed.
They also went on to speculate that tension had been building between the two of them for a long time, possibly even before February 2022, when the veteran actor made its return to Broadway to perform in The Music Man. “Deb wasn’t at rehearsals very much,” they said in the interview, adding that she “was even spotted snoozing during some of them.”
Despite everything, the unknown source made clear that a third person wasn’t involved in why they decided to separate and that they had simply gradually transformed into “roommates.”
