POS device
Point-of-sale (POS) transactions reached nearly SAR 12.30 billion in the week ended Oct. 28, compared to roughly SAR 10.06 billion in the week before, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that about 186.33 million transactions were processed during the week.
POS transactions represent consumer spending using ATMs and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

Most sectors reported positive performance, led by clothes and footwear which grew on a weekly basis by 38%, followed by education and telecommunications (30% each), and food and beverages (29%).
Consumer spending focused on the food and beverages sector for the week, with nearly SAR 2.14 billion, followed by the restaurants and cafes sector with SAR 1.8 billion.

Riyadh led in terms of POS transactions’ value, accounting for nearly SAR 4.15 billion, or 34%, of the total. Jeddah came in second with SAR 1.58 billion, as shown below:
