With only one race to go – Challenge Salinas in Ecuador – Els Visser has done particularly well within the Challenge Family World Bonus standings. Following her victory at Challenge Canberra last Sunday, Visser has climbed to a shared second place.
Magda Nieuwoudt, who is first with 1450 points, is already unbeatable, but Imogen Simmonds and Els Visser now share second place with both 1200 points. Lucy Byram (980) and Fenella Langridge (810) follow as fourth and fifth women. Langridge was the Challenge Family World Bonus winner last year, but has won less in 2023 and was also beaten by Visser last weekend.
While the final decision has yet to be made, the top men are also close. Mathis Margirier still leads the Challenge Family World Bonus Rankings with 1,300 points, while Caleb Noble now has 1,200 points after his third-place finish at Challenge Canberra, making him second in the World Bonus standings. Thomas Bishop follows in third with 1,000 points, followed by Menno Koolhaas (850), Frederic Funk (825), Aaron Royle (750) and Daniel Baekkegard (750).
The Challenge Family World Bonus pays out a whopping $125,000 at the end of the season, divided among the five best performing athletes of the season (both men and women). The winners will receive $25,000, numbers two $16,500, numbers three $12,000, numbers four $6,000 and numbers five $3,000.
