Victoria’s road networks are under pressure from increased traffic, making getting around major cities like Melbourne increasingly difficult. To help solve that, the State Government is investing in underground tunnels which will house an expanded rail network below the city to transfer tens of thousands of commuters per day.
The project is underway as part of Victoria’s Big Build and this week they released this First-Person-View (FPV) drone video showing you through the construction site.
This is a great demonstration of what drones can offer, as it flies through multiple stories of the train station and onto the tunnel itself that will house the trains, something not accessible by simply walking with a camera.
This particular tunnel is the Anzac Station, one of 5 stations due to be completed by 2025, which will connect South Yarra to Kensignton, directly connecting West Melbourne with South East Melbourne with twin 9km train tunnels.
FPV drones are increasingly being used in commercial settings to capture environments in new ways, some examples of this are:
Construction: FPV drones can be used to inspect construction sites, identify potential hazards, and create detailed maps.
Real estate: FPV drones can be used to create virtual tours of properties, which can be helpful for marketing and sales.
Inspection: FPV drones can be used to inspect infrastructure, such as bridges and power lines, for damage or defects.
Mapping: FPV drones can be used to create detailed maps of areas, which can be used for planning or disaster response.
Media: FPV drones can be used to capture aerial footage for movies, television shows, and commercials.
