Marcin Malyszko and Amit Singh launched Mission Craft Cocktails with the dedicated purpose of … [+] actually doing good.
Mission Craft Cocktails
Amit Singh and Marcin Malyszko became best friends after meeting at a charity event in 2020 at the start of the pandemic so it’s not surprising that their business venture is all about charity.
The two, who love well crafted cocktails but don’t love to make them, founded Mission Cocktails in 2023. That every bottle of Manhattan, Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Mai Tai, and Old Fashioned is crafted entirely from ingredients sourced within 100 miles of their Venture, CA bottling plant is unusual, but that’s not what makes this award-winning cocktail company stand out.
What makes their mission unusual is that five percent of every single purchased is donated and goes back to the southern California communities that support their work. To date, donations have funded more than 40,000 meals to families in need.
“We wanted to pour ourselves into something, and we wanted to pour it forward,” Singh says.
In fact, “pour it forward” has become the tagline for Mission Cocktails. “That’s why we created our company,” Malyszko says.
During the pandemic, when the two were planning their business – over cocktails, of course -they immediately knew that they wanted to give back to the communities who would support their brand. They shot out ideas of giving back percentages – one percent, two percent – they finally decided on five percent of every bottle sold because to their knowledge, no brand was doing exactly what they were planning to do.
The reason for their passion for charity comes from their humble starts. Singh is the son of immigrant parents in Canada, and he grew up in poverty, becoming the first graduate of college in his family. He studied biology, but he worked in the sporting goods industry. Malyszko grew up in Illinois, and his mom cleaned houses for a living. When his father was diagnosed with cancer, he took a job at 17 to to help his family.
The two not only came from humble origins, but they both truly believe in helping others in need, which is why they partner with local food banks. But doing good for the community would not be possible without making stellar cocktails.
To craft their mission, they worked tirelessly with a mixologist to come up with their signature recipes for their five cocktails, but then they had to work to scale up the cocktails without losing the quality. To achieve the product they were looking for, they decided to focus on local ingredients, sourced within a hundred miles, which would ensure that the ingredients were at their peak ripeness before being used to craft the cocktails.
As a result, their cocktails have won several awards including platinum at the 2023 SIP Awards, double gold at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and the Innovation Aard at the 2023 SIP Awards. “The best cocktail doesn’t just taste good,” Singh says.
“It does good,” Malyszko says.
A 5-pack of Mission Craft Cocktails in each flavor costs $99.99, a 3-pack costs $62.99, and single 375 ml bottles each cost $17.
