After performing three dates of their ‘Peace Out’ tour, Aerosmith have been forced to postpone the remainder of their extensive farewell tour. The announcement comes after the band had already postponed six of the tour dates due to vocalist Steven Tyler suffering a vocal injury, which turns out is more severe than initially expected. Today the band posted the following statement, “To our fans: Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care. He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”

Tyler himself has also commented on the matter stating, “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

Sure enough, this is the best the decision the band could have made. Provided it really is the end of the band, Aerosmith are presumably hyper-focused on delivering the best quality concerts for this farewell tour, even if it means taking the foot off the gas and postponing the dates indefinitely. Speaking of which, no new dates have been announced at this moment, however, the bands social media indicates they will return “sometime in 2024.” Additionally, the band has stated that all tickets will be honored at the new dates or refunded upon request.

While the 40 date tour was originally planned to go through the end of January 2024 with a special new years eve performance in their hometown of Boston, it’s not exactly clear if the band will continue the tour exactly where they left off. With the status of Tyler’s recovery being rather nebulous there’s no telling when fans can expect the tour resume, apart from sometime in 2024.
