During his speech, Aliko Dangote highlighted the refinery’s ability to meet Nigeria’s fuel demands. “Right now, Nigeria has no cause to import anything apart from gasoline,” he said. “By sometime in June, within the next four or five weeks, Nigeria shouldn’t import anything like petrol — not one drop of a liter.”
Aliko Dangote’s vision goes beyond Nigeria. The refinery aims to become a major exporter of refined products across Africa and even to other continents like Brazil. This could make Nigeria a key player in the global crude and fuel markets. The recent tender for 24 million barrels of U.S. crude oil over the next year is a step towards this goal.
