Uyo, May 9th, 2024 – The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has commenced the construction of four state-of-the-art classroom blocks for the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State. The groundbreaking ceremony, held on the university campus, marks a significant milestone in ASR Africa’s Tertiary Education Grants Scheme.
The donation is part of a grant awarded to the University of Uyo from ASR Africa’s $100 million Fund for Social Development and Renewal. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nyaudoh U. Ndaeyo, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to ASR Africa for selecting the University of Uyo as a beneficiary of the grant. He emphasized the urgent need for the classroom blocks and requested prompt completion to enable the university to utilize the facilities without delay.
Dr. Ubon Udoh, MD/CEO of ASR Africa, commended the university management for their support and reiterated the commitment of ASR Africa’s founder and Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, to enhancing quality education within Nigeria and Africa’s tertiary education system. He encouraged students to make optimal use of the new facility upon completion.
To date, over 27 public and private Nigerian universities and institutions of higher learning have benefited from ASR Africa’s Tertiary Education Grants, including the University of Maiduguri, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, the University of Ilorin, the University of Benin, and the University of Ibadan, among others.
