Cause of Mohbad’s death yet to be known

The arrest of the nurse who administered an injection to Mohbad before his passing on Tuesday, September 12, has been confirmed. PUNCH Metro can confirm this. In response to further inquiries from our correspondents regarding police arrests related to the late singer’s death, Hundeyin stated, “I can’t provide information on the arrests at this time, as I don’t have that update. However, I can confirm that the nurse is in our custody.”

Reports suggest that the circumstances surrounding the death of Mohbad, who passed away at the age of 27 on Tuesday, have not yet been determined. Previously, the Lagos State University College of Medicine in Ikeja confirmed the presence of Mohbad’s body at the hospital.

Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo, the Chief Medical Director, stated, “Yes, they are at the LASUTH premises, specifically at the Pathology Department, which handles cases like this for the Lagos State Government. There is a Chief Medical Examiner who can provide further details.”

Recall that the acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, had earlier directed the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, to launch a swift and comprehensive investigation into the tragic demise of Mohbad. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, communicated this development in an official statement on Saturday.

Adejobi mentioned, “The acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, issued a directive to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, instructing him to commence a prompt and thorough investigation into the tragic passing of Mohbad. This directive was given during a brief yet significant discussion at the Police Airwing Hangar, Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, September 16, 2023.”

Nigerian youths demand for justice
